The St. Albert Community invites you to join us in this musical
celebration of the 1850 founding of the Western Dominican Province in California. As
a part of our celebration we will offer a couple of concerts in our Chapel to commemorate
this event. The second and final concert will take place on the 20th of May 2000 at 8 P.M. The Chapel
Choir of the Catholic Community of Stanford University will perform a
concert of Choral music and will be followed by a coffe and dessert reception in the
cloister garden. Tickets for the event are $25.00, and may be purchased
in advance by calling St. Albert Priory at (510) 596-1800/1807. Seating is
limited to 200 people. More information TBA.
The first concert took place on 1st of April at 8 P.M. The San Francisco State
University Chamber Singers performed a selection of choral music from their upcoming tour
of China. The concert was a huge success!

The SFSU Chamber Singers
Throughout a series of California tours and appearances at festivals, the San Francisco
State University Chamber Singers have established a record of excellence in choral
performance. They have been praised for their "supple choralism" and
"wonderfully committed performances" of the a cappella repertoire ranging from
Renaissance madrigals to works of contemporary composers. Their debut recording,
"Sing Me to Heaven" was released in February, 2000. Upcoming projects
include their annual holiday program "Songs of the Season," an appearance at the
California Music Educators Statewide Conference, and a ten-day concert tour to China in
April 2000.Joshua Habermann
A native of California, Joshua Habermann is a graduate of Georgetown University and the
University of Texas at Austin. He has worked with such ensembles as the Adirondack
Chamber Orchestra, the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and the World Youth
Choir. He is presently an assistant conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.
As a singer Dr. Habermann performs with the New Texas Festival, the San Francisco
Symphony Chorus and the Victoria Singers of the University of Texas at Austin. At
San Francisco State University Dr. Habermann conducts the Chamber Singers, the Women's
Chorus, the University Chorus, and coordinates the graduate programs in conducting and
vocal performance. Dr. Habermann's teachers include Craig Johnson and Helmuth
Rilling. |
